TURNING PAGES: INTERSECTIONS OF BOOKS & TECHNOLOGY

Visitor Count:  4463  as of May 30, 2014

The Arne Nixon Center and Special Collections Research Center in the Madden Library will host a new exhibition entitled, "Turning Pages: Intersections of Books and Technology."  The exhibition will be held in the Leon S. Peters Ellipse Gallery of the Library.  We are teaming up with the Center for Creativity and the Arts (CCA), a non-profit arts organization on campus, to collaborate with this year's chosen theme of Data and Technology.

Technologies new, old, and reinterpreted have altered the paradigm of the book since its inception.  From creation and content to format itself, the collective notion of the book, a benign object, is continually radicalized.  "Turning Pages" will provide a glimpse into some of the ways in which technology has transformed books and book making.  Using examples from our Special collections, as well as book art from five world-renowned artists, we will explore the intersections between text, image and form, both in and outside the digital arena.  Join us as we encounter words, vision, and embodied practice in the changing landscape of our most pervasive form of art--the book.
